EnterpriseDB announced continued enterprise traction for its Postgres AI platform alongside a striking data point from its enterprise customer research: 95% of enterprises intend to become their own AI and data platform within three years. Only 13% are there today. The gap between ambition and architecture is the defining challenge of enterprise AI infrastructure in 2026.
The announcement came alongside news that organizations are moving away from assembled data stacks - collections of disconnected tools patched together - toward unified systems where transactional, analytical, and agentic workloads function as one governed system. Most organizations already have the technologies required for AI. Far fewer have made them function as one governed system.
The aspiration to become an AI-native data platform is near-universal. The architectural work required to get there is not. Organizations that complete that work in the next 12–24 months will have a data foundation that compounds in value as AI capabilities advance. Organizations still assembling their stack will be rebuilding it.
