Wastewater Genomic Biosurveillance

Genomic sequencing was producing real outbreak signal and leaving it in research papers. We connected it directly to the provincial models decision-makers actually plan with.

We normalised sequencing output across catchments of different sizes and fed it as a live input directly into provincial epidemiological models. The science became a decision tool - not a parallel publication.

Methodology transferable to national wastewater surveillance and fentanyl and substance monitoring.
